Welcome to the Sforzando Competition!

Sforzando is the European chamber music competition for students. The event provides a platform for exchange between young non-professional performers from diverse disciplines and national backgrounds who share a passion for chamber music. Founded in 2005 in Paris, the competition is now held alternately in France and in Germany.

The winning ensemble has the opportunity to perform in prestigious music festivals and recieve coaching from renowned classical chamber musicians.

On the following pages participants, sponsors and visitors can discover more about the history of Sforzando and find details regarding the 2015 competition in Munich. Our photo gallery provides photos of past competitions and the video below provides a snapshot of the competition.

A word from the Presidents

“Dear Candidates,

From the outset, the fervour and enthusiasm of the students taking part in the Sforzando Competition and the obvious pleasure they take in sharing their love of music both with each other and with a wider audience have been a constant source of joy to the organizing committee and to ourselves personally. We hope that many of you will once again be taking part in the next competition in 2015 and whilst there is no doubt that you will give of your very best in the hope of winning, our wish is that, whatever the final outcome, you will enjoy the sheer pleasure of making music! The best of luck to you all!”
